Freddie Edwards was born in Tulsa, OK and raised in southeastern Oklahoma in the town of Cameron. Actually he’s from Rock Island, the boyhood home place of famous songwriter Albert E. Brumley (one of his mentors).

Singing and songwriting has been a part of Freddie’s heritage for many generations. His grandma Jannie was a singer/songwriter. According to his father, Jackie Edwards (who is a Freewill Baptist Minister, singer/songwriter) said that his mother was always singing around the house or in the cotton fields and writing songs. Freddie remembers well when his mom and dad would take him to gospel singing as a child and was influenced by groups such as The Blackwood Brothers, Statesmen Quartet and The Speer Family.
